Malayalam has stories the rest of the world hasn't read yet. If you are a publisher, literary agent or translator interested in bringing a Kairali Books or Akam Masika title into another language, here is what to know. Select titles across our catalog, spanning novels, poetry, short story collections and memoirs, are open for translation licensing, with priority generally going to works that have already found strong readership or critical recognition in Malayalam, since these tend to travel best into new languages and markets.
To get started, tell us the specific title you are interested in, or ask us for recommendations if you are open to suggestions, along with a short note on your press, past translated titles you have published, and the markets you reach. Our rights team will check whether the title is available and get back to you with terms. Once terms are agreed, we support the translation process with author context, background material and any clarifications your translator needs.
What we look for in a translation partner is a genuine commitment to the work, an established distribution channel in the target language, and a translator capable of carrying the tone and cultural texture of the original, not just its plot.
